UI2API

UI2API 2026 was an innovative online technical event organized by the Department of Information Technology with the objective of strengthening participants' full-stack development skills through practical implementation. Unlike conventional coding competitions, this challenge focused on transforming a static frontend interface into a fully functional web application by developing the complete backend architecture. Participants were encouraged to apply their knowledge of APIs, databases, authentication, and real-time communication while working on an industry-inspired project. The event provided a platform where students could experience software development practices followed in professional environments. It also promoted analytical thinking, problem-solving, and software engineering best practices, making it a valuable learning experience for aspiring developers.

EXECUTION_DETAILS //
OBJECTIVE OF THE EVENT - The primary objectives of conducting UI2API 2026 were: • To provide participants with practical exposure to full-stack web application development through real-world project implementation. • To enhance students' understanding of backend development, REST APIs, database integration, and authentication mechanisms. • To encourage participants to apply software engineering principles, coding standards, and project organization practices while developing scalable applications. • To strengthen problem-solving, analytical thinking, and debugging skills by working on an industry-oriented technical challenge. • To promote independent learning and innovation by encouraging participants to build portfolio-worthy projects using modern development tools and technologies. • To bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements by providing hands-on experience with real-world software development workflows. These objectives are concise, professional, and align well with the purpose of UI2API 2026. ABOUT UI2API & ITS ACADEMIC RELEVANCE - UI2API 2026 was designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world software development. The challenge required participants to integrate frontend interfaces with backend services by implementing APIs, database connectivity, authentication mechanisms, and real-time data synchronization. Through this approach, students gained practical experience in applying concepts learned in subjects such as Web Technologies, Database Management Systems, Software Engineering, and Computer Networks. The event highlighted the importance of software architecture, code organization, security, and maintainability in modern application development. It also introduced students to professional development workflows involving Git and GitHub. As a result, participants developed both technical knowledge and industry-relevant engineering skills. EVENT PROCEEDINGS – The event began with a welcome address and introduction by the organizing team, who briefed the participants about the schedule, objectives, and guidelines of UI2API 2026. Participants were introduced to the challenge and informed about the evaluation criteria, submission process, and technical requirements. The event was conducted successfully over two days in online mode with enthusiastic participation from students. Day 1 – 26th June 2026 (10:00 AM – 1:00 PM) • The first round of the event was conducted for all registered participants. • Participants were provided with the frontend template and instructed to implement the required backend functionalities. • The challenge focused on backend development, API integration, database connectivity, authentication, and project organization. • Participants worked on their solutions and submitted their projects within the allotted time. • Based on the technical evaluation of the submissions, the Top 5 participants were shortlisted for the final round. Day 2 – 28th June 2026 (3:00 PM – 6:00 PM) • The second and final round was conducted exclusively for the shortlisted participants. • The shortlisted projects underwent a detailed technical evaluation by the review panel. • Each project was assessed based on implementation quality, functionality, code organization, backend integration, and software engineering practices. • After a comprehensive evaluation, the Top 3 winners were finalized based on their overall technical performance. • The event concluded with the announcement of winners and appreciation for all participants for their dedication and enthusiastic participation. EVALUATION & RESULTS - Evaluation Criteria: • Projects were evaluated based on backend implementation, API integration, database connectivity, code quality, and overall functionality. • Code organization, maintainability, and adherence to software engineering practices were also considered. • The evaluation was conducted in two rounds to ensure a fair and transparent selection process. Results: • The Top 5 participants were shortlisted in the first round based on their technical performance. • In the second round, the shortlisted participants underwent a detailed evaluation, and the Top 3 winners were finalized. • Certificates were awarded to the winners in recognition of their outstanding performance.
